About Arctic Weekend in English

Arctic Weekend, organized for the third time, gathers freeski and snowboarding enthusiastics to Rovaniemi.

This October, Arctic Weekend will be held already for the third time. The snowsport event starts a new winter season with, for example, product presenters, lectures, workshops, and a charity auction.

For the first time this year Arctic Weekend will be a two-day event, and all of its program will be held on the Rovaniemi Korundi Cultural Center. Founded and produced by Antti Autti and Ville Puominen, Arctic Weekend has grown from an event built around Autti’s movie premiere into the most significant snowsport fair in the North.

- We are doing this with a passion for riding. Our only goal at the event is to promote snowsport culture and give people a spark for the coming winter. If a visitor leaves with a smile inspired by the coming winter, we have succeeded in our work, says Antti Autti, co-founder of Arctic Weekend and a professional snowboarder.

Arctic Weekend includes snowboarding and freeskiing in a diversely. The purpose is not just to make the event for top experts, but also for casual enthusiasts.

- Arctic Weekend is made for people who are stoked of snowsports in their own way. You don’t need to be a professional, not even passionate. It’s enough that you get a spark for the coming season from Arctic Weekend, says co-producer Ville Puominen.

Last year, 700 visitors bought a ticket to Arctic Weekend, and in additon free events attracted a large crowd. This year's goal is to reach 1000 visitors.

- However, we are building the event with moderation and target it to people who are interested in these sports, says Autti.

This year, the event will feature up to 22 brands, with the industry’s leading brands supporting the event’s construction, logistics and food organization. Likewise last year, a charity auction seeks out opportunities for young people in need. Last time, it raised 3,630 € with product donations from brands and professional riders.

If you are interested, we recommend you grab those tickets from ticketmaster in advance, because they are selling out fast.

We compiled this page to act as a guide for international attendees in 2019
